Millngate formed a Joint Venture Company with Morrisson Developments Property Finance Limited, part of the AWG Group, known as AWG Milln Gate (Stockport) Limited, to develop 60,000 sq ft of retail and leisure accommodation in the centre of Stockport. After a three year period, the scheme was successfully completed in March 2004 and sold for in excess of £12m to Allied Dunbar.
The scheme comprised circa 30,000 sq ft of retail space on the first, second, and third floors, occupied by TK Maxx, 11,000 sq ft in the basement, taken by JD Sport and 12,200 sq ft in four units on the ground floor attracting tenants such as Cafe Nero, Mark One and Music Zone. There was also a 7,500 sq ft restaurant on the fourth floor overlooking Stockport market as shown below.
